Professional financial advice helping you to achieve your goals

Most Australians would like to be able to retire at a reasonable age and enjoy the comfort and lifestyle they have become accustomed to over their working life.

Let’s think about this for a minute, on average people are spending:

  • The first 20 years of their life at school, technical college or other education institutions
  • 35 years working, and
  • 20 years in retirement

There is a real need to plan for those years in retirement so you can make this time enjoyable and stress-free.

At Callaghans we look at the whole picture, not simply whether you will have enough money saved up but what kind of lifestyle you want, where you will wish to live and whether you have legally protected your assets.

A retirement plan can help give you peace of mind and help set strategies to achieve those goals. Contact one of our qualified and experienced Financial Planners today to discuss how a retirement plan may help you.

Protecting your family

At Callaghans we strongly believe, protect what you have now, before you consider anything else!

Wealth protection relates to a variety of insurance cover options, protecting individuals against loss due to death, illness or injury.

Although thinking about personal risk can be a sensitive and emotional issue it is important to be aware of the potential risks and ways you can protect your financial well being as well as providing quality of life in the unfortunate case of serious illness or injury.

Callaghans can assist you to identify the risks, determine the most cost-effective solution and implement a risk management program which has been tailored to suit you.

There are four main types of cover:

Life cover
Provides an agreed amount upon your death to support dependants. Life Insurance can be used to help pay one-off and ongoing expenses such as a mortgage, personal debts, funeral expenses, children’s education and as ongoing income.

Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD) cover
Provides a cash lump sum to support you and your dependants if you are totally and permanently disabled as a result of an injury or illness. This can help pay off mortgages or other personal debts, provide an income or help with expenses associated with a change in lifestyle.

Income Protection
Provides an income stream to support you and your family if you can’t work due to illness or an injury. This can usually provide up to 75% of the pre-tax income that you earned prior to injury or illness.

This insurance can help you make ongoing mortgage payments, as well as servicing other debt and providing an income.

Trauma Cover
Provides a lump sum payment to you if you suffer a specific major medical condition. Trauma insurance can be used to relieve the stress associated with the medical condition by providing for medical expenses, mortgage payment, an extended holiday or subsidising your income if a change of employment is required.

We also offer all our clients annual Reviews of their insurance so that they can be sure they are getting the right cover for their circumstances at all the different stages of life. If you have questions about Wealth Protection or would like a quote and advice regarding your insurance needs call our friendly and professional Financial planning team today.

The task of choosing a Personal loan that fits your needs is not straightforward or easy and can be extremely confusing. Don’t go straight to the bank for your personal loan … Compare our competitive rates!

Our panel of lenders ranges from major banks to boutique lenders. We match you with the best option suited to your personal situation; imagine the thrill of a new car without the stress!

A Personal Loan can be used to finance a vehicle for personal use.

Callaghans have a range of flexible finance products designed to assist you in conserving your cash flow and potentially provide certain tax advantages.

Commercial Hire Purchase (CHP)

A CHP is a commercial finance product where the customer hires the vehicle from the financier for a fixed monthly repayment over a set period of time.

Under a Commercial Hire Purchase (CHP) arrangement the financier agrees to purchase the car on behalf of the customer, and then hire it back to them over a set period of time.

The customer has the use of the vehicle for the term of the contract but is not the owner of the vehicle.

At the end of the contract term when the total price of the vehicle (minus any residual) and the interest charges have been paid in full, the customer takes ownership of the car.

A CHP can assist you with more cash flow for your business. Simply tailor your CHP by selecting the contract term (up to 5 years). Include a deposit and nominate a balloon instalment to lower your monthly instalments. The interest charges and depreciation may be tax deductible.

Chattel Mortgage

A Chattel Mortgage is a particular type of finance used by businesses for the purpose of purchasing a new or used vehicle or other business equipment.

A Chattel Mortgage is essentially a Mortgage over goods to be financed. A Chattel Mortgage is classed as a cash sale in that the goods automatically become yours on purchase and the finance company takes a mortgage over the chattels. However for tax purposes you can claim depreciation, running costs and interest paid, against your business income.

A Chattel Mortgage may be suitable for businesses registered for GST. You own the vehicle and your repayments can be tailored by selecting the term (up to 5 years) and incorporating a balloon payment. The interest rate is fixed for the life of the loan.
