18.11.2009 Callaghans Client Breaks into American Publishing Market
Denise started her own business, Sutherland Studios, in 1997 (and been a Callaghans client from the word go). For the first six years she worked as a graphic and web designer.
However, in 2002 she went out on a limb, and changed her business' focus to writing puzzles professionally. Over the next four years she researched, wrote, and illustrated five themed puzzle books, including the popular "Canberra Puzzle Book". In 2006 her puzzles became syndicated through Auspac Media.
In 2008 she got her big break - she was approached by Wiley USA to be Technical Editor on one of their "For Dummies" puzzle book titles, and this led to being offered a title of her own. "Word Searches For Dummies" was published in May 2009.
Her latest title, written with American Freemason, Mark Koltko-Rivera, is "Cracking Codes & Cryptograms For Dummies", which will be out in early November 2009. While her "For Dummies" titles have been published in America and Canada, they can sometimes be found in Dymocks and other local bookstores, as well as on online shops such as Amazon and Fishpond.
